Association work on the island follows its own process. Roofs are commissioned by a board against a reserve schedule, bid across whole buildings, and planned so that no section is ever left open overnight. If you own a unit and you have a leak, the report goes to your association rather than to a roofer directly, and knowing that saves a lot of wasted calls.
On the mainland, the work is conventional and the housing is modest: 1950s and 1960s single-family, shingle and concrete tile, straightforward pitches and easy access.
